A group of indigenes and residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has rallied in support of the continued stay in office of Barr Nyesom Wike as the minister of the FCT.

The indigenes led by Muhammed Yakubu , while speaking newsmen shortly after the rally at the National Assembly grounds, urged President Bola Tinubu to ignore all those calling for the removal of Wike from office.

Yakubu noted that the recent protest which took place in Abuja and tagged “Wike Must Go” can best be described is a show of shame by some fraudulent elements who masquerade themselves as are not indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT”.

He further noted that “the truth remains that those protesters were hired idle hands being used by elements who feel threatened by the good works being executed by Barr Nyesom Wike. They are daily feeling uncomfortable that the status quo ante has changed for the better as far as good governance in FCT is concerned”.

According to him, the FCT minister, in the person of H.E. Barr . Nyesom Wike , has shown capacity in the management of affairs of FCT”.

Yakubu described the action of the protesters as simply put, “corruption fighting back”.

In his remarks, one of the protesters, Mr Cyril Okemiri, said that all genuine residents of the FCT, were happy with the actions so far taken by Wike in the administration of the capital territory.

Okemiri noted that Wike as FCT minister has not hidden his determination to restore the lost glory of FCT and retrieve it from the hands of land grabbers.

“It is on record that the FCT. minister is a man of action, who have in the last few months set the ball rolling in the positives direction.

“We the indigenes and residents of FCT warn all who are bent on distracting Wike to cease all distractions forthwith or face the wrath of indigenes and residents of FCT”, Okemiri further warned
