West African Youth Congress lauds NSA, defence minister, security chiefs for positive contribution to war against terrorism, insurgency

The West African Youth Congress (WAYC) has lauded the Nigerian military for its recent successes in tackling insecurity within the country.

This comes after reports emerged detailing the neutralization of 118 bandits, the arrest of 330 others, and the rescue of 133 kidnapped victims – all within a single week.

In a statement released by the organization’s Secretary-General, Ambassador Ahmed Marafa, the WAYC commended the Nigerian troops for their dedication and bravery in the face of ongoing security challenges.

“We at the West African Youth Congress are highly impressed by the recent feats achieved by the Nigerian military in their fight against criminal elements,” stated Ambassador Marafa.

He added that, “The neutralization of over 100 bandits, the arrest of hundreds more, and the successful rescue of kidnapped victims represent a significant stride forward in securing Nigeria.”

Ambassador Marafa’s message extended praise beyond the troops themselves just as he acknowledged the crucial roles played by officials of the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu in orchestrating these victories.

According to him, “We also commend the efforts of the National Security Adviser, Mallan Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, H.E Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, all security Chiefs and other Heads of Security Agencies for their contributions to ensuring peace in Nigeria.”

He continued that, “Their leadership and strategic direction have demonstrably bolstered the effectiveness of the military’s operations.”

The WAYC further highlighted the critical role Nigeria plays in maintaining regional stability stating that, “As the most populous nation within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Nigeria’s security situation directly impacts the well-being of the entire region.”

Ambassador Marafa emphasized that, “Nigeria’s security is paramount to the stability of West Africa. By effectively addressing its internal security threats, Nigeria contributes significantly to a safer and more prosperous region for all.”
