Wunti FC, Dangoma defeats Evening Trainers in Zakin Dangoma Peace Soccer opener

Wunti FC Dangoma defeated Evening Trainers Kafanchan in the opening match of Ahmadu Zakin Dangoma Peace & Unity Soccer Tournament in Southern Kaduna.

The competition was organised for 30 youth football teams in southern Kaduna and environs and is meant to foster unity and understanding among them.

The expected teams to participate in the maiden edition of the competition are: Wunti FC Dangoma (Jema’a LG), Marsa FC (Zangon Kataf LG), Babaji FC Kagoro (Kaura LG), Golden Balley Kafanchan (Jema’a LG), SD Academy, A.Y Academy, Bajju Bombers, Rainbow FC, Shooting Stars, El-Classico.

Others are Madakiya FC, Young Lions Afana, Young Planners U/Rimi, 11 Warriors Kaninkon, Ambam FC, Sabon Kaura FC, Gboh Nangbon FC, Salama FC, Danfulani FC, Derby Stars,

In the opening match Wunti FC defeated Evening Training Stars 5-4 on penalties advancing to the knockout round.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the match, the league coordinator, Zaidu Ataimaka thanked the sponsor of the tournament for his contribution to promoting peace among the youths of the area.

He called on the youths not to subject themselves to be used as vehicles of destructions.

In his remarks, the Grand Sponsor, Ahmadu Tanko (Zakin Dangoma) said he decided to sponsor the tournament to foster unity among youths in the area and urged them to embrace each other and live a peaceful life with everybody.

He also thanked the security personnel; Operation Save Haven, Kafanchan Police Area Command and Divisional and other stakeholders for continuously engaging the youth positively in activities that promotes friendship and harmonious coexistence.

He called on all and sundry to contribute and support the peace efforts of the state and the security agencies as no meaningful development can take place without peace.

He said winners of the competition will receive N300,000, N200,000 for runners up and N100,000 the third placed team.
