Youth Games: Gombe contingents to commence close camp in August

Gombe State Government said it would commence close camp for its athletes in August, ahead of the National Youth Games scheduled for September in Illorin.
Mr Jafar Tijjani, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Chairman of Gombe state Sports Commission stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Tuesday.
According to Tijjani, the aim of the camp is to keep the athletic in one environment and give them special training which would prepare them to face their counterparts across the country.
He said during the 2017 National Youth Game, Gombe state won seven medals and expressed optimism that this time, the state’s contingents would win more medals as a result of the state government’s renewed investment in sport.
Tijjani said this year, the state would feature in Table Tennis, Badminton, Swimming, Takwendo, Judo, Weight Lifting, Volley Ball and Wrestling,among other games.
He said some of the youth that would be participating at the National Youth Game, would represent the state at the National Sports Festival slated for November in Abuja. (NAN)
