Bauchi PRP raises concerns over alleged attempts to undermine party’s victory in 2027, visits Police Zone 12 AIG for intervention

Bauchi State Chapter of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has raised serious concerns over alleged attempts to undermine the party’s electoral prospects by failing to adequately address and firmly act on certain political complaints made.
The concerns were raised by representatives of the State governorship candidate of the party, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, alongside party leaders and stakeholders. calling on security agencies to remain impartial ahead of the 2027 elections.
The delegation made this known during a consultative meeting with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, AIG Vungmoh S.M. Kwaimo, in Bauchi on Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Barrister Jibrin S. Jibrin, Esq., cited allegations involving a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as an alleged incident involving the burning of a banner belonging to the PRP candidate in Makarahuta.
He said the party was not seeking any favour or preferential treatment, but simply wanted the law to be applied equally to everyone.
According to him, “What we are seeking is justice, fairness and the fear of God.”
Jibrin also reaffirmed the PRP’s commitment to conducting its political activities peacefully, saying: “We have no interest in attacking people with inflammatory statements, inciting the public or engaging in violence, and we will not be involved in such activities.”
In his response, AIG Kwaimo assured the delegation that the Police would remain impartial and provide equal protection to all political parties and candidates.
He said: “Partiality or discrimination is not acceptable. That is not my character, and I will not support any political party.”
AIG Kwaimo also urged political leaders to continue sensitising their supporters, particularly young people, about the importance of peace and the need to avoid any actions that could lead to violence or destruction of property.
He further assured the delegation that there would be a “level playing field for everyone,” while encouraging political parties to bring any security-related complaints directly to him.
He advised that, “Anyone who has any issue concerning me should feel free to come to me. Let me know about it, and I will look into the matter.”
AIG Kwaimo also disclosed that the Police Command has mechanisms for monitoring political activities to ensure peace before, during and after the 2027 elections.
The meeting ended with an emphasis on the importance of dialogue, cooperation, professionalism and adherence to the law in ensuring peaceful political activities in Bauchi State.
