Customs CG Adeniyi, Sultan, Yari, Aliero to launch book on NCS reforms Tuesday

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CG), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, will lead a public presentation of a book on customs service reforms and their implications for the Nigerian economy.

CG Adeniyi will serve as the Chief Host at the event, scheduled for Tuesday, 25 August 2026, in Abuja, by 10 am.

Zamfara State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal (Gamjin Gusau) will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event.

The book, titled “Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023: Historical Context, Service Reforms and Predicament of Application,” was written by Abdullahi Bello Gusau, a retired Comptroller of Customs.

The event will be held at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall of the Nigeria Customs Service Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja, according to a statement released on Thursday by the author.

Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari (Marafan Sokoto), former Zamfara State governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, will be the chief launcher.

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, would serve as Royal Father of the Day.

Former Kebbi State governor, Senator Adamu Aliero, will be the reviewer of the book.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, Senator Jibrin Isah, and his House of Representatives counterpart, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide.

Professor Kabir M. Danladi, a former Head of Public Law Department, Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, wrote the foreword to the book.

The book examines the implementation of NCS reform policies and offers candid reflections on transparency, accountability, justice, due process, equity and service delivery in the public service.

The book presentation comes at a time when Customs CG Adeniyi’s leadership focuses on revenue growth, trade facilitation, and modernisation.
