The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the names and personal particulars of Senator Shehu Buba Umar as the governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State for the 2027 general election, alongside his running mate and the party’s candidates for the Bauchi State House of Assembly.

The publication, made in accordance with Section 29(3) of the 2026 Electoral Act, puts to rest questions surrounding the authenticity of the PRP’s governorship ticket and the candidacies of the party’s deputy governorship and State Assembly candidates in Bauchi State.

This was contained in a statement by Comrade Sabo Mohammed, Special Adviser, Media and CommunicationBauchi South Senator and PRP Governorship Candidate, 2027.

Reacting to the development, Senator Shehu Buba Umar described the publication as a significant milestone for the PRP and its supporters, saying the confirmation by INEC has brought clarity and certainty to the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

“Praise be to Allah. The issue surrounding the authenticity of my candidature, that of my deputy and the PRP candidates for the State House of Assembly has now been put to rest,” Senator Shehu Buba Umar said.

The PRP governorship candidate called on party members, supporters and all stakeholders to remain united and focused on issues that directly affect the people of Bauchi State. He said unity of purpose, issue-driven campaigning and respect for democratic principles would remain central to the PRP’s campaign ahead of the 2027 election.

Senator Buba further reiterated his commitment to pursuing a people-oriented development agenda if elected governor of Bauchi State. He said his administration would prioritise technology-driven education, revitalisation of the health sector, employment opportunities and a business-friendly environment for young people and women.

He also pledged to transform agriculture from its current challenges into a commercially driven sector capable of creating wealth, generating employment and improving food security. According to him, his administration would also develop practical strategies for community policing and strengthen collaboration among security agencies and local communities to address insecurity across the state.

The PRP governorship candidate said the proposed agenda would focus on inclusive governance, accountability, transparency and equitable development, with government policies designed around the needs and aspirations of ordinary citizens.

He congratulated his fellow governorship candidates and other contestants across the various political parties, urging all political actors to conduct their campaigns peacefully and in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Senator Shehu Buba Umar also appealed to the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians at large to support a peaceful electoral process, stressing that political competition should be about ideas, programmes and the ability to provide effective leadership rather than division and personal attacks.

He made the remarks in Kano today’s Saturday while discussing political and campaign-related issues with his appointees, including Senior Legislative Aides, Legislative Aides, media aides and close political associates.

The meeting was also attended by prominent former APC stakeholders who recently defected to the PRP in solidarity with and support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s 2027 governorship ambition, including the immediate past Organising Secretary and State Secretary of the APC, alongside other prominent party executives and political stakeholders.

The publication of the PRP candidates’ names by INEC is expected to further strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections in Bauchi State, while providing its supporters and candidates with greater certainty as political activities intensify ahead of the polls.

Senator Umar said the PRP remains committed to presenting an alternative political platform centred on development, inclusion, economic opportunity, security and responsive governance for the people of Bauchi State.
