Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Azama TV, a Bauchi based private television company, Rt Hon Danlami Ahmed Kawule, has said that putting the station on satellite was not an easy task but it has grown from strength to strength.
He was speaking at the first anniversary of the establishment of the television station held at the Sir, Ahmadu Bello International Conference Center in Bauchi, on Saturday.
According to him, “To have Azama TV on satellite wasn’t an easy task, but we are happy that today we are here to celebrate success with our stakeholders, our audiences and partners.”
Kawule who is currently Bauchi State Commissioner of Housing and Environment, expressed gratitude to broadcast veteran, Alhaji Halilu Ahmed Getso, for his immense contributions to journalism, and commended partners and advertisers for their patronage, assuring them of better service delivery.
He further said that the station has been monitoring audience feedback, adding that its programmes, including Wildlife, Barka da Safiya and news bulletins, have gained wide acceptance, particularly among women who also show preference for entertainment content.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the management of Azama TV for providing content that aligns with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Bauchi State.
The Governor, who congratulated the station on its milestone, urged the management to strictly adhere to the ethics of journalism, noting that television remains a vital channel for educating, informing and entertaining society.
Also, a Media scholar, Prof Umaru Pate who was the Chairman of the day, media industry players and the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Alhassan Yahaya and other stakeholders commended the vision of establishing the television station in Bauchi.
Speaking variously, they agreed that the station has further exposed Bauchi State, its culture, political and social setting beyond the shores of Nigeria to the outside world.
The management honoured Governor Mohammed, Commissioner of Information; Mr. Shehu Usman Shehu, Media Adviser to the Governor; Mukhtar Gidado and others in addition to members of staffer who distinguished themselves in the performance of their official duties.
