The Taraba State Police Command has arrested two women for allegedly attempting to traffic three children, all about four years old, from the NTA Area in Jalingo to Yola in Adamawa State.
The suspects, identified as Ada Eze and Ujunyi F., were said to have deceived the children’s parents by claiming they were taking the children to the market before transporting them out of Taraba State.
The children were rescued at the Yola park in Adamawa State before they could be handed over to another suspect identified only as “Juliet of Onitsha.”
Sources indicated that Ada Eze had previously been arrested for a similar offence, charged to court in Jalingo, and later released.
Eyewitnesses and community sources described the incident as deeply disturbing and expressed hope that such acts would not be repeated.
They praised the Taraba State Police Command for its swift response and called for the case to be pursued to its logical conclusion, insisting that anyone found guilty should face the full weight of the law. They stressed that child trafficking has no place in Taraba.
Spokesman of the Taraba State Police Command confirmed the incident and said a formal press release would be issued.
