Governor Radda says Katsina internal revenue hits N3bn monthly from N600m
Governor Radda made this known on Thursday, while speaking as a panelist at the launch of the Nigeria Development Update by the World Bank held at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, with the theme “Beyond the Federal Purse: How Higher Revenues Reshaped State Priorities”.
According to him, his administration has judiciously deployed improved resources from FAAC, occasioned by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, into critical sectors.
In healthcare, he listed the reconstruction and equipping of over 270 Primary Healthcare Centres, establishment of an Ambulance Service System with 15 advanced ambulances, upgrade of 6 Comprehensive Health Centres to General Hospitals, establishment of an Advanced Dialysis Centre and Imaging and Cancer Centre, and recruitment of over 2,000 healthcare professionals.
In education, the Governor revealed that his administration has built over 170 new schools, renovated over 500 schools, built 3 new model schools, recruited over 10,000 teachers and trained over 25,000 teachers.
In agriculture, Governor Radda said Katsina has recorded the largest mechanization programme by any sub-national in Nigeria with over 400 modern tractors and thousands of mechanized equipment. He added that over 1,000 youths have been trained and funded in agribusiness, over 60,000 tons of fertilizer are distributed annually and over 5,000 irrigation equipment distributed to farmers, making Katsina one of the most affordable states in terms of food prices.
On financial management, Governor Radda stated that aside from the IGR growth, the state’s domestic debt has fallen from N62 billion in 2022 to N14 billion in 2025.
He further disclosed that the state’s malnutrition rate has dropped by 7 percent, while the number of out-of-school children has reduced from over 500,000 to about 200,000. He reaffirmed that his administration has fully implemented Local Government financial autonomy.
The Governor’s invitation as a panelist is in recognition of his policy thrust towards building a sustainable Katsina State for a brighter future.
The event had in attendance the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Financial Systems Stability, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Rep of CBN Governor, Lamido Yuguda and Dr. Tayo Aduloju, CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG.
