NCDC congratulates Professor Nuhu on his election as NES National President
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission, Dr. Cyril Tsenyil, on behalf of the Governing Board and Management of the Commission, has congratulated the Executive Director, Finance, NCDC, Professor Muhammad Bashar Nuhu, on his election as National President of the Nigeria Environmental Society (NES).
Professor Nuhu, the first person from Northern Nigeria to hold the position was elected at the 35th National Conference and 36th Annual General Meeting of the Society held in Benin City, Edo State over the weekend.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Head, Media and Corporate Communications Department, North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
Dr. Tsenyil described Professor Nuhu’s emergence as a testament to his outstanding leadership qualities, academic excellence, professional accomplishments, and longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.
He noted that the election was not only a personal honour to Professor Nuhu but also a source of pride to the NCDC, which remains committed to promoting sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges across the North Central region.
The NCDC Managing Director expressed confidence that Professor Nuhu’s new position would provide a valuable platform for stronger collaboration between the Commission and the Nigeria Environmental Society, particularly in developing practical and sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges confronting the region.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to support Professor Nuhu’s leadership and work closely with the Society and other relevant stakeholders to advance proactive approaches to environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development across the North Central region and Nigeria at large.
Dr. Tsenyil further expressed optimism that Professor Nuhu’s wealth of knowledge, experience, and professional network would contribute significantly to strengthening environmental advocacy, promoting best practices, and advancing policies that safeguard the environment for present and future generations.
While wishing him a successful and impactful tenure, the NCDC Chief Executive prayed that God would grant Professor Nuhu the wisdom, strength, and good health required to discharge the responsibilities of his new office effectively.
