Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs expands executive council

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) under the leadership of President General, His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has restructured and expanded its National Executive Council (NEC).

The development was part of the decisions reached during the General Assembly of the Council held in Abuja on Thursday 1st October, 2026.

This was contained in a statement by Public Affairs Officer, NSCIA, Abbas Jimoh.

The General Assembly was attended by Muslim leaders comprising of traditional leaders of Islamic faith, Chief Imams of the Central Mosques in 36 states and the FCT.

The assembly approved the renewal and expansion of the National Executive Council of the NSCIA to include: Deputy Secretary-General (National) – Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, Deputy Secretary-General (International), Prof. Salisu Shehu, Deputy Secretary-General (Corporate) – Mr Abeny Mohammed (SAN) and Deputy Secretary-General (Administration) – Dr Bala Muhammad.

Others are Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Deputy Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Hajia Sekinat Lawal, Development Officer – Dr Mairo Mandara, Deputy Development Officer (Technical) – Arc Abdullahi Musa PenAbdul and Family Affairs Officer – Prof. Fatimah Abdulkarim.
