Professor Yakubu Aboki Ochefu of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Benue State has rejected the membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) National Campaign Caucus.
In a statement on Monday, he personally signed, Professor Ochefu noted that he was never consulted or gave consent to the appointment.
“My attention has been drawn to a list circulating on social media, titled ‘Nigeria Democratic
Congress (NDC) National Campaign Council’, which names me as a member of its
National Campaign Caucus.
“I wish to inform the public that I am not a member of the NDC and have never been. I was
not consulted before my name was included, nor did I give consent,” he said.
According to him, he has written to the Chairman of the Council to decline the appointment and to request that his name be
withdrawn and a revised list published.
Professor Ochefu noted that as National Chairman of ANUA and President-General of Ochetoha K’Idoma, he lead organisations whose members cut across all political parties.
He pointed out that these offices require him to remain non-partisan, and intend to honour that obligation.
Ochefu, a professor of Economic History and Strategic Studies, thanked all who reached out for clarification, and ask that they disregard the list insofar as it concerns him.
