The Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Power and Politics, Kabir Sani Giant, has urged the people of the state to disregard the negative remarks made by the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over Governor Nasir Idris’s efforts in tackling insecurity.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, Giant said the former minister wielded enormous powers during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari but failed to utilise them to address the ravaging effects of insecurity in the North-West, particularly in his home state, Kebbi.

He said Malami had the capacity to mobilise the Army and other security agencies to nip the problem in the bud at its embryonic stage but did nothing, adding that he never visited the state to sympathise with victims of insecurity, nor did he offer any material or financial assistance.

“Now that he is desperate for the governorship, the former minister is mischievously bringing the issue of insecurity to the fore, playing on the sensibilities of the people.

“Our people in Kebbi know the truth; they cannot be deceived by his antics. Governor Nasir Idris has placed security at the top of his administration’s priorities and will not rest on his oars,” he said.

Giant added: “The Comrade Governor has procured and distributed over 100 patrol vehicles to the Army and other security agencies, as well as thousands of motorcycles, particularly to vigilantes and some to the military, in addition to catering for the welfare of troops, regular maintenance of operational vehicles and provision of other logistics.”

The Special Adviser disclosed that Governor Idris had engaged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who ordered the deployment of 36 APC vehicles and the establishment of three additional Army formations in the state, noting that with gallant combatants on the ground, insecurity would soon become history in Kebbi.

“The people of Kebbi are wise. They voted for Comrade Idris in his first term and are ready to vote for him again in 2027 for the APC’s second term, God willing,” Giant added.
