Nasarawa Government condemns disruption during Shettima’s visit to Emir’s palace, orders investigation
By Our Report, Lafia
The Nasarawa State Government has directed the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to immediately investigate the disruption that marred the courtesy visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, (rtd) on Wednesday
This is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Dr Labaran Magaji, on Wednesday in Lafia
Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the All Progressives Congress ( APC) Presidential Campaign Rally in Lafia, had paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs out of respect for the traditional institution.
According to the statement, the homage was marred by ignoble acts perpetrated by some irate youths suspected to be linked to some high-profile personalities, including Sen. Umaru Al-Makura and IGP Muhammad Abubakar -Adamu (Rtd).
The statement said the act was carried out with the intent to smear the image of the government and the good people of Nasarawa State, describing it as reckless, condemnable and unacceptable.
According to the statement, the act showed disregard for constituted authorities and the exalted office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Accordingly, the DSS is hereby directed to immediately institute a full investigation to unravel the causes of the incident, the perpetrators and sponsors of the condemnable act and bring them to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement read in part.
The government urged all citizens of the state to remain law-abiding while carrying out their daily activities.
