The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, has warned contractors handling projects awarded by the Commission that it will not tolerate substandard execution of any of its projects

The Managing Director gave the warning as the Commission commences the implementation of its first intervention programmes and projects across the North Central region

This was contained in a statement by Head, Media and Corporate Communications Department, North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Makut Simon Macham.

Dr. Tsenyil said that, as a pioneer Commission, the NCDC is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, due process and strict compliance with approved specifications and contractual agreements. He stressed that the Commission would ensure that all contractors deliver their assignments in accordance with the terms and conditions of their contracts.

He noted that beyond conducting meticulous procurement processes, the Commission is determined to establish high standards for project execution to ensure that the people of the North Central region derive maximum benefits from its interventions and that government resources deliver value for money.

The Managing Director disclosed that he had already directed the Executive Director, Projects, to ensure regular monitoring, supervision and evaluation of projects to guarantee compliance with approved specifications and timelines, in line with the development objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Tsenyil further cautioned that the Commission would not hesitate to impose appropriate sanctions on contractors who fail to deliver within agreed timelines or engage in substandard project execution.

He stated that such sanctions could include the termination of contracts and withholding of payments where contractors are found to have failed to fulfil their contractual obligations.

The Managing Director assured contractors and citizens of the North Central region that the Commission remains committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure the delivery of impactful development projects while maintaining and sustaining the highest standards of quality, accountability and value for money.

It will be recalled that the NCDC has commenced the award of contracts for intervention projects in the education, water, agriculture and empowerment sectors, with some contractors already mobilising to project sites.
