The first position went to Phoebe Ozioma Onwuabuije, from Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, winning N200,000 and a Laptop.

Prince Ezeabata Chibuzor, a 500 level law student of the University of Abuja, came 2nd Position and won N100,000 and a Laptop, after arguing that the Punitive Approach, unlike the Preventive Approach, is the best measure towards curbing corruption.

Speaking in an interview, Chibuzor expressed how he felt about the debate.

He said: “I have learnt my lessons. I performed well, particularly as the first time I would be debating in my life, and in the University. I came second, but I was the overall best speaker. I learnt where I made mistakes, and I believe I will do much better next time.

“The Presentation is of three stages. I won the first stage, second stage, and drew in the last stage, which led me to making University of Abuja into 2nd Position, but I became the overall best speaker in the competition.
