Katsina’s LG Supervisory Councillors’ Forum donates ₦5m to support Governor Radda’s re-election
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received a ₦5 million donation from the 34 Local Government Areas Supervisory Councillors’ Forum of Katsina State in support of his re-election campaign.
The donation was presented today during a meeting between the Governor and supervisory councillors from the 34 Local Government Areas at the Government House, Katsina.
Receiving the donation, Governor Radda expressed appreciation to the forum, describing the gesture as a demonstration of confidence in his administration and its programmes across the state.
“I sincerely appreciate this gesture and the confidence you have demonstrated in our administration. Your support is a reflection of your commitment to the progress of Katsina State,” the Governor said.
Governor Radda commended the supervisory councillors for their contributions to grassroots governance, stressing that their closeness to the people makes their roles critical to effective service delivery.
“Your responsibilities at the grassroots are very important. You are closer to the people, and your effectiveness will contribute significantly to the success of our development programmes,” he added.
The Governor also appreciated the forum for presenting a large plaque in recognition of his administration’s efforts to strengthen security and improve the wellbeing of communities across the state.
“We appreciate this recognition. Our responsibility is to continue working for the security, development and wellbeing of our people across the state,” he stated.
On the request for specialised training, Governor Radda directed the relevant authorities to work out modalities for organising a capacity-building programme for the supervisory councillors.
“We will look at the request for training and ensure that the appropriate authorities work out a suitable programme that will build your capacity and improve your performance,” he said.
Governor Radda also said he would meet with relevant authorities, particularly Local Government chairmen, to explore ways of addressing the councillors’ request for official vehicles.
“On the issue of vehicles, I will meet with the relevant authorities, particularly the Local Government chairmen, to explore how we can address this request and improve your mobility,” he added.
The Governor urged the supervisory councillors to remain united and committed to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots.
He also called on them to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and enlighten people at the grassroots on the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.
“You should continue to support the Federal Government and ensure that our people understand the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration,” Governor Radda said.
Earlier, Chairman of the 34 LGA Supervisory Councillors’ Forum, Hon. Ibrahim Sulaiman Daura, said the delegation visited the Governor to appreciate his leadership, support and recognition of supervisory councillors across the state.
“We are here to appreciate Your Excellency for your leadership, support and recognition of supervisory councillors across the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State,” Daura stated.
He commended the Radda administration for its initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and improving the working environment for local government officials.
Daura also appealed to the Governor to facilitate specialised training for supervisory councillors, noting that such training would enhance their knowledge and capacity to effectively perform their responsibilities.
“Specialised training will greatly enhance our knowledge and capacity, and we respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to support the organisation of such training for supervisory councillors,” he said.
He further appealed for the provision of official vehicles to supervisory councillors to improve their mobility and enable them to effectively carry out their responsibilities across their respective Local Government Areas.
“We also appeal for official vehicles for supervisory councillors because improved mobility will enable us to effectively carry out our responsibilities across our respective Local Government Areas,” he added.
The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and other senior government officials.
