The Maris Trust Council (MTC), organisers of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, has congratulated Rev. Fr. John Konyeke on the 19th anniversary of his ordination to the Catholic priesthood.

In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, and made available to journalists in Asaba, the organisation described Fr. Konyeke as a strong pillar of faith, a moral guide and a committed advocate of social justice.

The Council commended the Catholic priest for his contributions to spiritual development, community service and efforts aimed at promoting positive transformation in society over the past 19 years.

MTC also highlighted Fr. Konyeke’s longstanding relationship with the organisation, noting that he has served as its Spiritual Adviser and played various roles, including Father of the Day, stakeholder and discussant at different editions of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture.

According to the Council, his commitment to societal development extends beyond his pastoral responsibilities, as he has consistently contributed to discussions on good governance, nation-building and the creation of a peaceful and morally responsible society.

The statement said: “For nearly two decades, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke has remained a shining light of the gospel, translating divine doctrine into practical, selfless service to humanity.”

The Council further praised his humility, wisdom and dedication, stressing that his participation in the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture series has reflected his desire for a better and more progressive society.

MTC also acknowledged Fr. Konyeke’s pastoral ministry, inspiring homilies and humanitarian outreach, which it said had provided spiritual guidance, hope and encouragement to many people.

Joining Catholic faithful around the world to celebrate the milestone, the Council prayed for continued divine grace, wisdom, strength and good health for the priest.

The organisation also prayed that God would protect and strengthen Fr. Konyeke as he continues his priestly ministry and service to humanity.

“As you celebrate 19 grace-filled years in the Order of Melchizedek, the Maris Trust Council prays that Almighty God renews your strength like the eagle’s.

“May He grant you divine protection, good health and fruitfulness in the Lord’s vineyard to continue inspiring humanity for many more decades,” the Council stated.
