Wadada receives Agatu endorsement for 2027 governorship, urges peaceful, issues-based campaign
Sen. Ahmed Wadada, Nasarawa State Governorship Candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has received a major endorsement from Agatu United for Wadada 2027 ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The rally, which was held in Lafia, brought together APC chieftains, government officials, and traditional leaders to rally support for Wadada’s bid to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule
The Agatu United for Wadada 202 inaugurated its executives and vowed to mobilise across all Agatu communities in the local government areas ahead of the 2027 election for Sen. Wadada.
Speaking at the rally
Sen. Ahmed Wadada told the crowd that politics should be about convincing people with records, not violence or insults.
“We have what to offer. We have offered. We have what to talk about. We have references… I have a catalogue of what God has blessed me to have done,” he said.
The Senator, who represents Nasarawa West, said his track record as a two-term House of Representatives member and current Senator sets him apart.
Wadada also announced a vehicle for the group and ₦10 million in donations to support mobilisation.
“Don’t just go to them and say they should vote for me because I am of your extraction. Tell them they should vote for me based on my performance, my track record, my antecedents,” he emphasised.
He pledged to run a peaceful campaign and continue the “HEART Agenda and NEDS” of the current administration of Gov Abdullahi Sule.
“Ours will be a continuation and consolidation, so do not be afraid. The ultimate goal is for us to remain in peace and in prosperity,” he added.
Also speaking, Coordinator of Agatu United for Wadada 2027, Comrade Godspower Ede, said the group’s support is based on both heritage and competence.
“Senator Ahmed Wadada is our grandson. His mother, Mama Iyatu of blessed memory, was Agatu by tribe. This blood bond, coupled with his track record of service, informed our decision to support him,’ Ede added.
Ede said the group covers all Agatu communities in Doma, Nasarawa and Toto LGAs and has members in all 13 LGAs.
He disclosed the group will target 127 polling units across 102 Agatu communities and requested logistics support to execute the outreach.
“Our strategy will be based on aggressive grassroots mobilisation and targeted empowerment from the villages to the polling units where elections are won,” he said.
Representing Governor Abdullahi Sule, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Office of the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Mr Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, commended the group for promoting unity.
This gathering is not merely a political event, but a demonstration of unity, brotherhood, shared identity, and determination to promote the progress and development of our dear state,” he said.
He urged the Agatu people to continue supporting the APC and peaceful coexistence and ultimately work for the victory of Sen. Wadada.
APC State Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, described Wadada as eminently competent to govern Nasarawa State and cited his role in securing approval for the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia.
“Wadada is the one that fed the horse—and he will direct the horse where to go. We advise ourselves that you have your son, you have the meat, the knife, and the table; you cut it the way you want to cut it.”
The Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, represented by Mr Safiyanu Ogah, described Wadada as a sellable product, noting that his achievements were visible across the state.
“His efforts, his achievements are all over. By the grace of God, in 2027, you will be the Governor of Nasarawa State,” he said.
Mr Musa Abubakar, Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Doma South, said the Agatu United group would begin grassroots mobilisation next week as the 2027 campaign season approaches.
He said the endorsement aimed to integrate Agatu people into mainstream state politics and attract development, including roads, healthcare, and education infrastructure.
