2027 Kogi East Senatorial election: APC candidate Erico officially began campaigns
The Senatorial Candidate of APC in Kogi East, Chief Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico, on Saturday, 12 September began his official and what he described as thank-you and victory mobilisation tour across the three Federal Constituencies that make up Kogi East, ahead of next year’s general elections.
The tour, which began in Idah, involved courtesy visits to Attah’s Palace at Idah, as well as stop over at Ejule, Anyigba and Ankpa, culminated in a grand homecoming reception at Erico’s hometown of Etutekpe, in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the State.
The APC grand campaign train was led by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, and included the party’s 2027 three House of Representatives candidates in Kogi East. They are, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Halims of Ankpa Federal Constituency, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna of Dekina Federal Constituency, and Hon. Victor Uchola of Idah Federal Constituency, respectively.
At Idah, the campaign team paid homage to the Attah Igala, His Royal Majesty Dr. Alaji Mathew Opaluwa OgwucheAkpa, CFR, before proceeding to other key locations across the Senatorial District.
At Ejule, Chief Erico paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor in his residence before proceeding to Anyigba, the headquarters of the APC Zonal Secretariat. From there, the campaign team left for Ankpa the headquarters of Ankpa LGA.
According to a press statements issued by Mr Emmanuel Unubi, Press Secretary to the State Deputy Governor, each of the places visited, Chief Erico used the opportunity to personally appreciate the leadership, APC stakeholders, and supporters for their support during the senatorial primary, while using the occasion to call on the people for greater mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at Etutekpe, Okpo, the country home of Chief Erico, the Deputy Governor of the State, Comrade Joel Salifu, who represented Governor Usman Ododo, congratulated Chief Erico on his emergence and reaffirmed the APC’s determination to secure victory across Kogi East.
Comrade Salifu reportedly explained that the final upload of names done by INEC has put to rest the question of who is the actual senatorial candidate of the party in Kogi East. In his words, ” it is a win-win for the party, as there’s no victor no vanquished.”
The Deputy Governor also formally presented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Erico and the three House of Representatives candidates to the people, urging party members and supporters to remain united and work collectively for victory in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at his homecoming reception in Etutekpe, the APC Kogi East Senatorial Candidate, Chief Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico, expressed appreciation to the people of Kogi East for the confidence reposed in him during the senatorial primary.
He described his emergence as a victory for the people and promised to justify the confidence placed in him by the party and the electorate.
He thanked APC leaders, stakeholders, delegates and supporters across the Senatorial District for their support, stressing that the journey to the Senate was not about him alone but about providing effective representation and advancing the interests of the people.
The APC candidate pledged to be accessible, responsive and committed to the development and wellbeing of the people of Kogi East.
“I want to sincerely thank all of you for the confidence you have reposed in me. I will not betray this trust. I will remain accessible to you and will work tirelessly to ensure that the voice and interests of Kogi East are properly represented at the National Assembly.”
Erico also called on APC members across the three Federal Constituencies to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
He urged party supporters to take the message of the APC to every ward and polling unit, assuring them that victory would be achieved through unity, hard work and collective mobilisation.
He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, for their leadership and support, while calling on all APC stakeholders to work together to deliver victory for the party in 2027 election.
