The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Dr Labaran Magaji, said the project to produce the next governor of Nasarawa State from Nasarawa West Senatorial District and the re-election of President Bola Tinubu have been sealed.
Magaji said this when he received the Youth Wing of the White Cap Progressive Movement on a courtesy call on Saturday in Lafia.
Magaji, also the Nasarawa State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, urged Nasarawa West to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the general elections.
The SSG said the Western Zone worked hard to produce Governor Sule for two terms, and now the baton is being returned to the zone, stressing the need for unity in ensuring that Sen. Ahmed Wadada, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, emerges victorious.
“If we can come together and support the 2023 project of Gov. Sule and succeed despite the attacks left, right and centre, now that he’s giving it back to us, we have a responsibility to deliver ourselves.
“I adopt them as my own, and I am part of the group, and I will support the group to see its success,” Magaji said.
Earlier, Chairman of the Youth Wing, Mr Abuhuraira Ibrahim, said the movement is the most stable and grassroots-rooted youth structure with presence in all 27 electoral wards of Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas.
Ibrahim, who led ward coordinators to the meeting, appreciated the SSG for his role in supporting the government and for his support during the primaries.
“This movement has a roadmap that we designed; we want to go round the 27 electoral wards to take the message of the government to them, and give them reasons why APC candidates should be elected,” he said.
He said the movement will embark on ward-to-ward campaigns with empowerment programs and sought the SSG’s support and cooperation.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Industry, Mr Sani Ottos said the White Cap Movement was established seven years ago when he was Chairman of Nasarawa LGA and remains intact.
“We feel this is the time after the primaries to have a one-on-one conversation with the SSG to see how we’ll drive the campaigns down to the grassroots,” he said.
On why voters should vote APC again, Sani Otto said, “seeing is believing”, citing infrastructure, agriculture with a food processing industry and mechanised farming, and healthcare where thousands of staff were recently recruited for primary healthcare, as achievements to campaign with.
“The fact remains no single administration can do it all, but this administration has touched all aspects,” he added.
