Senator Lalong attends Kwararafa Development Forum, calls for unity, renewed commitment to shared values
The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, has attended the Kwararafa Development Forum held in Abuja under the theme, “The Splendour of the Confederacy: Ancient Truth and the New Dawn.”
The event, which took place on Saturday at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, brought together illustrious sons and daughters of the ancient Kwararafa Kingdom from different parts of Nigeria to reflect on their shared history, values, identity and aspirations for the future.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion was the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Agbu Kefas, alongside other prominent traditional, political, professional and community leaders.
Senator Lalong described the Forum as an important platform for reflection, engagement and dialogue on the enduring values of the Kwararafa heritage and the need to strengthen the bonds of unity among its people.
He said the gathering provided an opportunity for the people of Kwararafa descent to reconnect with their history, celebrate their cultural heritage and examine how the values that sustained the ancient kingdom could contribute to building a more united and prosperous society in the present day.
According to him, the significance of the Kwararafa heritage extends beyond its historical narratives, as it provides an opportunity for successive generations to appreciate the importance of unity, cooperation, mutual respect and collective responsibility.
Senator Lalong commended the conveners and organisers of the Forum for creating a platform that brings together people from different states and backgrounds linked by a common historical and cultural identity.

He urged participants to sustain the dialogue and ensure that the Forum becomes a platform for constructive engagement, development-oriented ideas and stronger relationships among the people.
The former Governor congratulated the organisers and participants for a successful gathering and expressed optimism that the renewed interest in the history and values of Kwararafa would inspire greater unity, understanding and collaboration among its people.
