The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his appointment as the state coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
The party also reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, declaring that it would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, announced the party’s position in a statement issued on Tuesday, describing Soludo’s appointment as a recognition of his leadership qualities and commitment to progressive ideals.
According to Opara, the appointment underscores Soludo’s advocacy for strategic cooperation between APGA and the Federal Government to advance the interests of Anambra State and the South-East region.
He recalled that APGA had adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate at a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee and during the President’s working visit to Anambra State on May 8, 2025.
Opara explained that the party’s decision not to present a presidential candidate in 2027 was consistent with its earlier resolution to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He added that APGA’s political alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was based on what the party described as shared progressive ideals, noting that the relationship had encouraged federal collaboration on infrastructure and economic development in Anambra State.
“Progressives are working together,” the statement declared, describing the slogan as a reflection of APGA’s ideological affinity with the progressive movement at the federal level.
The party, however, stressed that its support for Tinubu would not affect its political identity or electoral ambitions in Anambra State.
It maintained that APGA would contest legislative elections under its own platform, including elections for the Senate, House of Representatives and Anambra State House of Assembly.
“In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly,” the party declared.
APGA expressed confidence that Soludo’s intellectual capacity, organisational skills and political influence across the South-East would strengthen efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general election.
