August 11 has been slated for Bauchi South Senatorial District bye election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said.
This was disclosed at a press conference by INEC in Bauchi on Friday.
The state’s INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ibrahim Abdullahi, who made this known, said Wednesday, July 25 will be the last day for political parties to conduct their primaries for their aspirants as approved by Section 87 of the Electoral Act 2010 (As amended).
He said Friday, July 27 would be the last day for the submission of Forms CF001, CF00E and nomination forms at INEC headquarters Abuja in line with Section 31(1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (As amended).
Last day for the publication of Forms CF001 and list of nominated candidates for the bye-election is slated for Friday, August 3, 2018 in line with Section 31(3) of the Electoral Act 2018 (As amended).
According to him, campaigns by candidates would come to end on August 9, 2018, 24 hours before Election Day in line with Section 99(1) of the Electoral Act 2010(As amended).
The Senator representing Bauchi South District, Senator Ali Wakil died on March 17, 2018 in Abuja.
