Preparations are in full swing for Nigeria Fashion Week 2026, one of Africa’s foremost fashion and creative industry platforms, scheduled to take place 2–4 October 2026 in Abuja.

Now firmly established as a premier international fashion business platform, Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 will bring together an exceptional gathering of Nigerian and international fashion designers, buyers, retailers, investors, manufacturers and media professionals.

Others expected are policymakers, creative entrepreneurs, development partners, diplomats, and fashion enthusiasts from across Africa and around the world.

With the theme “Beyond the Runway: Fashion and Culture at the Heart of the Green & Blue Economy (Going Green 5),” this year’s edition will spotlight the growing role of fashion as a driver of sustainable development, environmental responsibility, innovation, job creation, cultural diplomacy, and economic growth.

Far beyond a traditional fashion showcase, Nigeria Fashion Week has evolved into a strategic platform that connects creativity with commerce, promotes Made-in-Nigeria excellence, strengthens regional and international trade, and creates opportunities for emerging and established fashion businesses to access new markets.

The Fashion Week 2026 will feature six major runway showcases presenting collections from some of the finest designers from Nigeria and around the world.

These collections will reflect the richness of African creativity while embracing contemporary global trends, innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainable fashion practices.

The event will also host an extensive exhibition featuring textiles, garments, accessories, footwear, beauty products, manufacturing technologies, fashion services, and creative innovations, providing businesses with direct access to buyers, distributors, retailers, investors, and consumers.

A major highlight will be the Nigeria Fashion Awards, which will celebrate outstanding achievements and recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria’s fashion and creative industries.

Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 continues its commitment to environmental sustainability through its flagship Going Green Collection, one of the event’s signature runway showcases dedicated exclusively to designers producing collections using recycled, upcycled, eco-friendly, and sustainable materials.

The event will also feature the Trees for Nigeria Campaign, bringing together designers, government officials, diplomats, development partners, celebrities, students, participants, and international delegates to plant trees as a lasting environmental legacy and demonstrate the fashion industry’s commitment to climate action and environmental conservation.

Through these initiatives, Nigeria Fashion Week reinforces the importance of the circular economy, sustainable manufacturing, responsible consumption, and environmentally conscious fashion production.

One of the most significant opportunities emerging from Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 is its strategic collaboration with Bizness Group, creating a pathway for selected Nigerian fashion brands and manufacturers to gain access to one of the world’s largest retail ecosystems.

Through this collaboration, outstanding designers and fashion entrepreneurs will have opportunities to explore export readiness, international retail standards, supply chain development, and potential access to Walmart’s extensive global marketplace through Bizness Group’s business facilitation platform.

This initiative represents a major step in positioning Nigerian fashion businesses for international competitiveness by connecting local creativity with global commercial opportunities, encouraging increased exports, manufacturing growth, employment creation, and foreign exchange earnings.

Nigeria Fashion Week believes that African creativity deserves not only global recognition but also meaningful participation in international value chains, and this partnership opens new possibilities for Nigerian brands to scale beyond domestic markets.

Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 will welcome participants from across Africa, Europe, North America, Asia, the Caribbean, and other regions, further strengthening Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for fashion business, cultural exchange, and creative investment.

International designers will showcase alongside Nigeria’s finest creative talents, while buyers and retailers will explore sourcing opportunities from Africa’s rapidly expanding fashion industry.

International media organizations, fashion journalists, photographers, bloggers, broadcasters, influencers, and digital creators will provide extensive global coverage of the event, amplifying the visibility of Nigerian fashion brands and creative enterprises to audiences worldwide.

The event aligns with Nigeria’s national vision of expanding the creative economy as a major contributor to economic diversification, youth employment, entrepreneurship, tourism, exports, and inclusive growth.

Nigeria Fashion Week serves as an important platform for promoting local manufacturing, strengthening fashion value chains, encouraging innovation, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, empowering women and young entrepreneurs, and attracting investment into Nigeria’s creative industries.

By connecting designers with buyers, manufacturers with retailers, investors with entrepreneurs, and culture with commerce, the event continues to demonstrate that fashion is not merely an artistic expression but a powerful economic sector capable of transforming lives and contributing meaningfully to national development.

Speaking on the vision for the 2026 edition, President of Nigeria Fashion Week, Lexy Mojo-Eyes, stated: “Nigeria Fashion Week is no longer just about beautiful clothes and spectacular runway shows. It is about creating jobs, opening international markets, promoting sustainability, preserving our cultural heritage, empowering women and youth, strengthening local manufacturing, and positioning Nigeria as Africa’s fashion capital.

“Through strategic partnerships and global collaborations, we are creating opportunities that will benefit our designers, businesses, and the wider creative economy for many years to come,” Mojo-Eyes stressed.

According to him, the collaboration with Bizness Group to create pathways into Walmart’s global retail ecosystem reflects the direction in which African fashion must move—from creativity to commerce, from local success to international competitiveness.

He pointed out that “Our vision is to ensure that Nigerian designers are not only celebrated on the runway but also stocked on shelves, featured on global platforms, and recognised as world-class brands.”

The Week invites designers, buyers, retailers, manufacturers, investors, fashion institutions, government agencies, development partners, sponsors, exhibitors, media organizations, and fashion lovers from around the world to be part of this landmark edition.
