Governor Mohammed vows construct more bypass roads to decongest traffic in Bauchi metropolis

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has vowed that his administration will construct more bypass roads in order to decongest Bauchi metropolis and enhance free flow of traffic.
He therefore called for active collaboration with the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to reduce to the barest minimum, road traffic violations that are leading to crashes along the roads.
The Governor made the call during his meeting with the Course 2 participants of the FRSC Command and Staff College, Udi, Enugu State who were on study tour of the state on Tuesday.
The participants were led to the EXCO Chambers of the Government House by the Commandant of the College, Assistant Corps Marshall Chidibere Okwonja.
The Governor gave them his words that he would strengthen the state government’s cooperation with the Corps and praised the personnel for the small but meaningful contribution to the advancement of the country and the betterment of Nigerians’ lives.
Mohammed, who expressed concern over the spate of crashes on the highways across the state, said that the collaboration would enhance the operations of the State Road Traffic Management Agency (BAROTA) to ensure the safety of road users.
According to the Governor, under the arrangement, personnel of the FRSC would actively work with BAROTA to control illegal business operations, which often cause difficulties for motorists passing through busy weekly markets across the state.
He assured of the state government’s commitment to provide all the needed support that would facilitate the smooth running of their activities.
He said his administration will continue to collaborate with the World Bank to construct over 5000 kilometers of roads across the state and will continue to build more for the benefit of the people of the state.
The Governor also said that his administration has executed a lot of projects particularly road networks to address the poor states of roads across the 20 local Government areas.
Mohammed also said that his administration will continue to partner the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in addressing traffic congestions on various major roads particularly on market days to avert various Road mishaps.
The Governor then said that his administration will continue to work with relevant stakeholders in addressing the challenges of poor road network and Road crashes in the state.
Earlier, Commandant of the FRSC Command and Staff College, Udi, ACM Chidiebere said that the Corps will continue to work with the state government to ensure road users safety, in addition to developing new strategies aimed at minimizing congestion, collisions, and burdens.
ACM Chidibere, on behalf of the participants, praised Bala Mohammed’s performance and support to the Corps in the state.
He said that the choice of Bauchi state was deliberate in recognition of the Governor’s huge investment in road network and growth just as he lauded the Governor for executing many developmental projects and urged for continues partnership.
