After allegedly paying the sum of N1.5m as ransom, Mrs Rukayyat Odedoyin, the nursing mother kidnapped eleven days ago by yet to be identified gunmen at Birshin Fulani, a suburbs of Bauchi metropolis has been released.
Husband of the abducted woman Engr Surajudden Odedoyin who spoke with newsmen on Monday said that, “I received her this morning (Monday) after the sum of N1.5 million ransom was paid to the kidnappers.”
The visibly shaken man said that, “She is currently with me and I will take her to the hospital for a medical check-up”.
Surajdeen Odedoyin said that his wife, Kafayat is going through psychological trauma following the kidnapped incident; “because it was a difficult moment for her throughout the period of her captivity.”
He also said that, “she was sleeping in the bush under humiliating conditions because of the whether, either it was raining or sunny, she was kept outside throughout her stay with the kidnappers.”
He declared that the kidnapping of his wife was equally a horrifying moment in his lifetime but expressed happiness that she was back home at the end of the drama.
He emphasized that, “It was very difficult to even explain or describe how horrifying it was for me and the family, but we give glory to God now that she is back with us”.
It will be recalled that that residents of Birshin Fulani had at the wake of the incident, accused the state government and other political office holders of neglect as incessant killings and kidnappings became the norm in the area.
The residents in a statement described the killings and kidnappings as “quite worrisome”, calling on security agencies and other stakeholders to come to their rescue, they blocked the busy Bauchi – Tafawa Balewa road to drive home their grievances.
All efforts to get reactions from the State Police Command proved abortive as the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili neither picked his phone when his number was called by our Correspondent nor reply to the sms and WhatsApp messages sent to the number.
