National Economic Council implementation, monitoring committee urges TASBISA to sustain efforts
The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee has paid an inspection visit to the Taraba State Bio-Entrepreneurship Innovation and Solutions Agency (TASBISA), Jalingo Demo Farm.
This was part of its monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes being implemented by the Agency.
The delegation comprised the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Adamawa State, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Borno State, as well as Permanent Secretary from the Ministries of Finance, Budget and Planning, and that of Agriculture.
The team was received by the Director of Stores, Mr. Enoch Ashu, on behalf of the Executive Vice-Chairman (EVC)of the Agency, Mr Josiah Bitrus HABU, who was unavoidably absent for prior official engagement.
He welcomed the visitors to the TASBISA Demo Farm and alongside other management staff of the Agency, conducted the delegation on a guided tour of its demonstration farm.
The visit commenced at the localized Humidity and Screen/Hardening chambers, where the team inspected nurseries of banana, cocoa, and other crops.
The delegation was subsequently taken round the banana/plantain plantation, groundnut fields, maize plots, and pineapple beds.
During the inspection, the leader of the delegation inquired about the Agency’s irrigation strategy during the dry season.
In response, Mr. Ashu showcased the two borehole facilities installed within the farm, and explained that they provide reliable water supply for year-round farming activities.
Mr. Ashu further informed the delegation that the facilities inspected constitute only the Agency’s demonstration farm, as he further explained that TASBISA’s main farm is located at the Agency Headquarters at Nakambo in Wukari Local Government Area, near Gassol, as well as additional fully developed zonal complex in Takum.
The NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee expressed satisfaction with the facilities showcased and the agricultural activities in place therein.
The team specially commended TASBISA for its commitment to agricultural initiatives for innovation and bio-entrepreneurship development, encouraging the Agency to sustain its efforts in advancing agricultural productivity and economic growth in Taraba State.
