Peace Institute D-G ends tenure, hands over to Bakut
The outgoing Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Prof. Oshita O. Oshita has handed over to Dr Bakut T. Bakut, IPCR Director of External Conflict Prevention and Resolution.
The Resident Information Officer, Mr Abu Michael, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja said Oshita handed over after completing his tenure of four years.
Michael said Oshita in a letter dated Aug. 8, said, “My tenure as the Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution comes to an end today, Aug. 8.
“In view of this and given that you are the most Senior Director in IPCR at this time, you are please to oversee the affairs of the Institute from Aug. 9, pending the appointment of a substantive Director-General.
“This appointment is in accordance with circular: No. SGF.50/S.ll/C.2/268 of 4th December, 2017”,he quoted Oshita as saying.
Oshita, while congratulating Bakut as the Acting Director-General, urged him to work assiduously towards uplifting the image of the institute.
Michael said former director-general thanked the Federal Government, the management and staff of the institute for their dedication throughout his four-year tenure
In his response, the Acting Director-General commended Oshita for the successes so far recorded under his through stewardship.
While pledging to consolidate on the gains so far achieved by IPCR in the last four years, Bakut praised Oshita for giving the Institute a direction worthy of emulation by other government agencies.
“I assured you that during the period that I will be serving as the Acting Director-General you have no reason to regret,” Bakut said.
He assured the former chief executive that he would do his best for the institute’s progress.(NAN)
