Plateau Governor, Lalong pledges support media correspondents

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has pledged to work with the new executive members of the correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, (NUJ), Plateau State Council.
The governor who spoke through his Director of Press Affairs, Simon Macham Makut congratulated the chapel for finding the new executive suitable to pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.
Lalong however, reminded them that his administration is against praise singing, and that all he wants is developmental journalism where reports would be captured accurately and fairly.
He then used the occasion to appealed to the new leaders to reach out to their co-contestants because its a family affair and government looks forward to work together to achieve “your vision.”
Also speaking, the state Commissioner of information and Communication, Hon. Dan Manjang commended the outcome executive for the support the government enjoyed since they came on board.
He assured that “We’ll continue to carry the press along. Thank you for the cooperation and we urged you to bear with us. Continue to Maintain ethics and code of conduct of the profession which is the hallmark of the profession.”
State Chairman of the NUJ, Paul Jatau commended the maturity that was exhibited in the build up to the election and urged members to support the new exco in their desire to move it to greater heights.
The zonal President of the NUJ for Zone D, Chief Wilson Bako charged members to protect the profession by being true professionals in discharging their duties.
He commended the Plateau State Government for the priority it gave the NUJ, especially the rebuilding of the NUJ Press Centre in Jos and called on other states to emulate such attention to the union.
Those elected are Gyang Bere, Chairman; Francis Douglas, Vice Chairman; Pam Musa, Financial Secretary, Martha Azi Nyam, Treasurer; John Farinola, Assistant Secretary and Jude Dangwam, Auditor.
They have since been sworn in.
