The Cross River State government has announced that it will not be able to pay the January 2021 salaries due to breakdown of computer system.
In an announcement monitored over state-owned Cross River Broadcasting Corporation radio arm on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2021 by the Accountant General of the state, Joseph Adie, it pleaded for understanding and patience.
Adie said they were working to resolving the technical faults.
“The state government will not be able to pay the January 2021 salaries soon. It will suffer some delays due to technical breakdown of the systems”, he said.
The state governor is sometimes tagged the most labour friendly governor for often paying salaries upfront, even some segments of the state civil service as well as retirees and pensioners have often decried non-payment of backlog of salaries, pension and gratuities.
