Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District and PRP Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State Governorship Election, has reaffirmed his commitment to pastoral communities through the 2026 edition of his annual cattle vaccination programme.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Wuro Magaji, Bauchi Local Government Area, Senator Umar urged Fulani parents to prioritize the education of their children, describing education as the foundation for sustainable development, economic empowerment, and peaceful coexistence.

This was contained in a statement by Comrade Sabo Mohammed, Adviser on Media and Communication to Senator Shehu Buba Umar.

The 2026 intervention is expected to vaccinate more than 70,000 cattle across the seven local government areas in Bauchi South Senatorial District.

The programme, initiated by the Senator several years ago, is designed to improve animal health, increase livestock productivity, reduce disease outbreaks, and strengthen the rural economy that relies heavily on livestock farming.

“The health and prosperity of our pastoral communities is directly tied to the health of their livestock. Supporting livestock owners is an investment in rural livelihoods, food security, and economic growth.” The Senator said.

He recalled that the maiden edition was held in Buzaye Village, Bauchi LGA, while the second edition took place in Gobbiyya Village, Bogoro LGA. He assured constituents that he will continue to sponsor initiatives that directly improve the welfare of pastoral communities.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including: Alhaji Hussaini Buzaye, National President, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, Bauchi State Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Sa’idu Maikano, Sarkin Fulanin Wase and Hon. Aminu Tukur Duguryel, Guest Speaker.
Also present were Jauros, community leaders, pastoralists, and Fulani indigenes from across the state.

In a related development, Senator Umar attended the inauguration of the newly elected Bauchi State Executive Committee of MACBAN in Wuntin Dada Village, Bauchi LGA.

In response to a request by the re-elected State Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, the Senator announced a donation of ₦20 million toward the acquisition of a permanent MACBAN State Secretariat.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Umar called on Fulani communities to maintain peaceful relations with farmers and other ethnic groups and to reject criminality and social vices.

“I remain committed to defending the legitimate rights and interests of Fulani communities through constitutional, lawful, and democratic means,” he said.

“Despite attempts to misrepresent our intentions, our focus remains on justice, fairness, and peaceful advocacy.” He added.

Senator Umar reaffirmed his vision to strengthen relationships between pastoralists, farmers, and government institutions, while advancing education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and sustainable rural development across Bauchi State.
