Stay away from drugs- Super Eagles football star, Zaidu Sanusi warns youths

The Super Eagles and Porto Football Club midfielder, Zaidu Sanusi has warned aspiring young professional footballers to stay away from drugs for them to succeed in the field of sports.

While speaking to newsmen in Jega, his hometown, on Tuesday, he said drugs had killed many young potential sportsmen and women in the past and had ended the careers of many young talents prematurely, imparting negatively on the society.

The Nigerian International emphasized that any young footballer hoping to pursue his profession overseas, especially Europe should distance himself from drugs because the anti doping tests would fish him out and possibly bag a ban from the sports.

Sanusi advised the youth to always show commitment and dedication to their chosen sporting activities for them to reach the best of their talents, stressing that laziness would not come with success especially in the field of football.

The football star said he was proud to represent Nigeria with the Super Eagles at international levels, pointing out that it was an honour to wear the colours of his country and urged the young footballers in Kebbi State to redouble their efforts in improving their skills to earn them a place in the National football team.

To this end, Sanusi said he would join hands with Kebbi State authorities to set up a workable machinery that would identify and develop young talents for both the national team and international club playing career besides making Kebbi a proud state.

The Nigerian International urged parents to support their children with the vested interests in football as their chosen career because the game had vicinity turned into employer of labour that had been improving the socioeconomic wellbeing of the youth and their families.
