The Taraba State Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Saturday elected new officials that will run the affairs of the chapel in the next three years.
Alhaji Sadiq Adamu of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) emerged the new chairman while six other officials were elected to various offices following the impeachment of the previous exco two months ago.
Other elected officials include Salisu Waziri of Voice of Nigeria (VON) and Sani Suleiman of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
Nathaniel Gbaoron of Business Day and Bashir Adamu of Liberty TV were elected as Assistant Secretary, and Treasurer while Emmanuel Awari emerged as Auditor.
Speaking after swearing in of the new officials, the state Chairman of NUJ, Mr Jovita Shafe congratulated the new officials and urged them to work hard to unite the Chapel and protect the integrity of the union in the state.
In his response, Alhaji Sadiq said that he would run an all inclusive administration that would put the welfare of members at the overriding priority.
He assured that he would work hard to ensure that correspondents in the state work in line with the ethics of the profession, and called on the other members who lost in the election to accept defeat in good faith and join hands with him in building the dream chapel.
Apex News Exclusive recall that the Wale Ayodeleled leadership of the Chapel was impeached by a two third of the Congress over gross violation of the NUJ constitution about two months ago, and the state council subsequently took over the running of the Chapel.
