2023: Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth leaders endorse South-East Presidency, ask APC, PDP to cede tickets to competent South-Easterner

Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly has unanimously challenged the Southeast region to demonstrate capacity, thereby giving Nigeria the most credible and competent Presidential candidate that would heal the protracted wounds of the country.

The group maintained that Nigeria had been in dire need of a God-sent leader to be able to actualise a prosperous country with effective economic revolutionary, embedded with the capacity to settle the cankerworm of unemployment ravaging the teaming youths since the past 50 years.

The group stated this in a communique which was issued at the end of a one-day summit of the Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State capital.

The group at the summit which had its focus on the call for Justice, Fairness and Equity, insisted on a rotatory presidency in Nigeria, stressing that it would guarantee a sustainable peace and Unity in the country.

Meanwhile, the leaders made a hearty appeal to Pro-Biafra groups particularly the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network, ESN to ‘sheath their swords’, urging to embrace a peaceful coexistence and and key into the extant quest for Nigerian president of the Southeast.

The communique further pleaded with the Pro- Biafra groups to see the Nigerian President of the Southeast extraction as a means to heal all forms of Marginalization and reintegrate the region in the meanstream of Nigeria’s political project.

The Assembly, therefore, advised that the presidential aspirants from Northern Nigeria like Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Bala Mohammed, Bukola Saraki, to shun their presidential ambition and respect rotatory presidency as a means to allow fairness, equity and justice prevail among the six Geo-political Zones in Nigeria.

Adding, “this would provide a lasting solution to the extant quagmire in the nation”, it stated, as it further expressed acrimony towards the deteriorated security situation in Nigeria and called on President Mohammadu Buhari to fashion a best strategic approach to save Nigerians from banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, Kidnapping and all kinds of criminal gangsters terrorizing the country.

The communique:

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A SUMMIT OF THE SOUTHERN NIGERIA ETHNIC YOUTH LEADERS ASSEMBLY HELD IN OWERRI ON WEDNESDAY, 23RD MARCH 2022.

  1. A Summit of the Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders held on Wednesday, 23rd March 2022, in Owerri under the Chairmanship of Comrade Felix Worlu ( Ikwerre Youth president)
  2. The Presidential Delegations of Southern Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Presidents Under auspices of Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly were respectively led by Comrade Felix Worlu; Comr. Napuru Bassuo ( Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council), Comr. Bawo Yagu ( Itsekiri National Youth Council), Comr. Ineife Perekosufa (Yenagoa Federation Youth Council), Comr. Goodnews Nwankwoala ( Etche Community Youth Leaders Association), Comr. Felix Worlu( Ikwerre Youth Council) Comr. Jaja Christopher Nnanna( Opobo Youth Federation), Comr. Abom Ephraim Okon( Anang Federation Youth) Comr. Babatunde Olayemi , Dr. Fami Lawson(Afenifere Youth President), Comr. George Odu(Ogba Youth Council), Comr. Omereji Ultimate (Ishimbam Youth Forum), Comr. Igboayaka O Igboayaka ( Ohanaeze Youth Council)

3.The Summit extensively discussed the State of Affairs in the country, with focus on the call for Justice, Fairness and Equity, and agreed that Rotatory presidency in Nigeria will guarantee a sustainable peace and Unity in Nigeria.

  1. Arising from the Summit, the groups resolved as follows:

i. That the existing power sharing between Southern Nigeria and Northern Should be upheld to build a strong Nigeria devoid of any form of Marginalization in Nigeria. Therefore, the group insists on the fundamental, hence President is coming to Southern Nigeria, standing on tripod slogan of Justice, fairness and equity we passionately appeal to Frontline political parties especially APC, PDP and other to cede their presidential ticket to Southeast.

ii. Noted that When new democracy was ushered into Nigeria, Southwest was earnestly considered which produced Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, and when by subsequent opportunity it returned to Southern Nigeria between 2009 to 2015, South-South had it through President Goodluck Jonathan. As presidency is returning to Southern Nigeria, it is justifiable that Southeast should produce the president of Nigeria in 2023 to encourage political stability and national unity.

iii. Furthermore, Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly challenged Southeast to demonstrate capacity, by given Nigeria the most qualified credible and competent Presidential Candidate that will heal the wounds of Nigeria, to achieve a prosperous country with effective economic revolutionary that settles the wave of unemployment ravaging our youths since the past 50 years.

iv. That for the sake of National patriotism and unity, the Assembly calls on Pro-Biafra groups especially Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB)/ESN to drop any form of arm struggle and embrace peace and key into the Nigeria president of Southeast extraction as a means to heal all forms of Marginalization and reintegrate in the meanstream of Nigeria’s political project.

v. The Assembly frowned at the deteriorated security situation in Nigeria and called on President Mohammadu Buhari to fashion a best strategic approach to save Nigerians from banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, Kidnapping and all kinds of criminal gangsters terrorizing the country. And this can only be achieved by establishing a community based security network that would compliment the effort of security agents.

vi. The Assembly advised that the presidential aspirants from Northern Nigeria like Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Bala Mohammed, Bukola Saraki, to shun their presidential ambition and respect rotatory presidency as a means to allow fairness, equity and justice prevail among the six Geo-political Zones in Nigeria. This would provide as a lasting solution to the extant quagmire in the nation.

vii. The Assembly emphasizes that Southern Nigeria youths should come out en masse for voters registration, and be ready for ballot revolution that will project merit in 2023 general election to all elective positions in Southern Nigeria.

Viii. Meanwhile, we reaffirm our commitment to the unity of Nigeria, characterized under the watch of Equity, Fairness, Justice that will accommodate the six Geo-political Zones in power sharing.

IX. The Summit was held under a democratic and condusive atmosphere with a collective interest of how Southern Nigerian people will survive politically and economically by assisting one another in the three Geo-political Zones
