Suspected members of Boko Haram sect have killed six persons and abducted two girls after raiding Gaya-Dlang near Fa’agaya village, Hong local government area of Adamawa State.
Reports has it that, they struck after burning down houses and carted away with food stuffs. The raid came less than a month when similar attack was carried out on Monday, 27 July, 2026 around 6:00 pm by the terrorists in Zah community in Yadul District of same local government area in which led to the abduction of middle-aged woman and four persons including a Forest Guard official were killed.
Confirming the incident, while contacted, the Chairman Hong LGA, Hon. Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad Yerima said “we have eight casualties among seven civilians and one police officer. Some inhabitants have sustained minor injuries while running for their lives, the corpse of the Police officer in been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Hong.”
Yerima however said “the four ladies earlier abducted have escaped, this morning all of them have returned back. “The four ladies are back”.
The Council Chairman noted that, the situation in the area is calm due to presence of the military personnel. He said the continuous attacks on the communities in Gaya and Yadul districts have forced farmers who constitutes bulk of the population abandoned their farms, that this may have adverse effect on food security.
“There are serious tension as 80% of our peasant farmers farming in that area have abandoned their farms. As I’m talking to you, I’m together with the councilor representing Garaha area. His farm is also around the area, he abandoned.
For now they can’t go to farm, you are aware by now with the rainy season, you hadly see any idle but now the situation is different. Famers dominate the area for now.
“The area has vast land for farming as it attracted people from Mubi, Gombe, comes to farm there including Hong.
He said most of the farming activities in that area, have come to standstill as a result of insecurity which will seriously affect the food security of the people. The also said the local council will continue to assist military and other security agencies as well as hunters and vigilante members towards providing security in the area and across the entire local government area.
The council chairman lauded Fintiri led administration for its efforts in tackling in security in the state. “The state government under the leadership under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri is doing its best. “We are praying. By the grace of God, things will be better”.
The council chairman called on communities across the local government to always be on alert and inform security agencies movement of suspected persons or those with questionable characters for prompt action.
