Borno, Kebbi state varsities to collaborate on global digital education integration
Borno State University and Abdullahi Fodio University, Kebbi State, are set to partner for the integration of both institutions into the global digitalised education system, with special focus on science, technology, and human capital development.
The collaboration framework was unveiled during an engagement parley at Kashim Ibrahim Borno State University, Maiduguri, during a visit by the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team.
The visit is part of a nationwide tour by the team to showcase the performance of the Kebbi State Government under Governor Nasir Idris and to understudy developmental initiatives in other states.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.
Leading the delegation, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the team was in Borno on the directive of Governor Idris to understudy key initiatives of the Borno State Government, particularly in education, infrastructure, and other sectors with direct impact on citizens.
According to him, the visit was also aimed at exploring areas of collaboration between the two state-owned universities and identifying successful models that can be adapted to meet the needs of Kebbi State.
“We are truly impressed by what we have seen, and we intend to build a fresh level of collaboration with our state-owned university,” Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK stated.
Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University, Professor Babagana Gutti, popularly known as the “Digital Professor,” said the proposed partnership will strengthen the existing cordial relationship between Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State and Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State.
Professor Gutti noted that integrating into the global digitalised system, especially in science and technology, will enable both institutions to produce modern human resources capable of driving digital and economic development in the two states.
He further expressed the management’s readiness to establish stronger academic, administrative, and professional exchanges with institutions in Kebbi State. He also assured of the university’s willingness to visit Kebbi State to learn from its institutional initiatives and experiences.
The proposed areas of collaboration include- exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices,
Joint research and innovation, development of academic programmes,
Administrative and professional staff exchanges,
Institutional visitation and experience sharing.
Both parties expressed optimism that the partnership will position the two universities to compete globally while contributing meaningfully to the development of Borno and Kebbi states.
