Bauchi Governor mourns death of BASHCMA secretary, four children in motor accident
Governor Bala Mohammed, has mourned the death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children in a fatal motor accident.
Duguri and his children — Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam — died in the crash which occurred at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area on Saturday evening. A son, Suleiman, reportedly survived with injuries.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed described the death as a monumental loss to the state, particularly the health sector.
He said the late BASHCMA boss distinguished himself through dedication and passion for improving access to healthcare, especially for the less privileged, and played a key role in advancing the state’s health contributory management system.
The governor also recalled his contributions to the state’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where his commitment to pilgrims’ welfare was widely valued.
“Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri was a close personal friend and classmate. His death represents not only the loss of a valued public servant but also the painful departure of a beloved family member and trusted companion,” the governor said.
Mohammed said the loss of four children in one incident made the tragedy more heartbreaking and prayed Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for quick recovery for the surviving son and fortitude for the family, the Duguri Emirate Council and the entire state to bear the loss.
The governor urged residents to remember the bereaved family in their prayers.
