The family of the late Chief Augustine Nwosu Maduka of Umuru Village, Ebenesi, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has announced funeral arrangements for their daughter, Miss Nneka Nwosu, who has been missing for 20 years.

Nneka reportedly left home on December 31, 2006, at the age of 22, and has not been seen or heard from since then

According to a statement shared by LoveBites Foods and Beverages Limited, a company owned by her brother, Mr Okwudili Nwosu, the family spent two decades searching, praying and hoping for her safe return.

However, following years of unsuccessful efforts to locate her, the family has decided to organise a funeral in accordance with traditional customs, which it says require a befitting burial for a person who has remained missing for 20 years.

In an obituary announcement signed by her siblings, Chukwudi, Okwudili, Oliver, Azubuike and Obinna Nwosu, the family described the prolonged absence as a period of deep pain and sorrow.

The family also disclosed that considerable resources were spent in the search for Nneka, adding that some individuals who claimed they could help locate her allegedly defrauded them in the process.

According to the funeral programme, a vigil Mass will be held on Friday, November 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the family compound in Umuru, Ebenesi, Nnobi.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the same venue, while condolences from relatives, friends and well-wishers will follow immediately after the service.

The family will round off the funeral activities with a thanksgiving and outing Mass on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Umuru, Ebenato, Ebenesi, Nnobi.

The funeral arrangement marks a painful milestone for the family, which says it has lived with uncertainty and the hope of Nneka’s return since she disappeared two decades ago.
