Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has expressed deep sadness and devastation over the death of Rev. Fr. Michael Kelong, Parish Priest of Immaculate Heart Parish, Nbuan, in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Senator Lalong described the passing of Fr. Kelong as a painful loss to the Catholic Church, the Diocese of Shendam, and the people he served faithfully throughout his priestly ministry.

He noted that Fr. Kelong devoted about 30 years of his life to the service of God and humanity, serving in various capacities within the Catholic Dioceses of Bauchi and Shendam. He particularly acknowledged his long-standing service as a member of the Board of Consultors and as Chief Exorcist of the Catholic Diocese of Shendam.

According to Senator Lalong, Fr. Kelong was a committed priest whose ministry touched many lives through his pastoral service, spiritual guidance, dedication and compassion. He said his death has created a painful void that will be deeply felt by the Church and the communities he served.

Senator Lalong commiserated with the Catholic Bishop of Shendam, Most Rev. Philip Davou Dung, the priests, religious and laity of the Diocese, as well as the immediate family, relatives, friends and parishioners of the deceased.

He prayed that God Almighty would grant the Bishop, the entire Catholic community and the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss, while asking God to receive the soul of Rev. Fr. Michael Kelong into His eternal kingdom.
