A team of 25 International Medical Doctors and Surgeons of different specialties from Gynaecology, Obstetrics care, and Pediatrics, have started a medical outreach in Kebbi State by performing surgery on 300 women and children on the first two days of commenvement.
The programme was dedicated on women and children’s health, providing them with all the medications needed under the World Assembly of Muslim Youths, WAMY, hosted by Nasara Foundation, an NGO of the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris.
The team, led by Dr. Hisham Abdusalam, visited Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House Birnin Kebbi on Monday, where they informed him that the Doctors were in Kebbi to offer free medical care targeting 1,500 beneficiaries.
According to him, WAMY planned to expand the scope and number of beneficiaries in subsequent medical missions to Kebbi State, including increasing the number of medical specialties available to residents.
Dr Abdusalam also said the team would attend to various women’s health and obstetric cases, perform necessary surgeries, and provide patients with the medications and post-operative care required.
In his response, Governor Idris acknowledged the invaluable contribution of WAMY to global healthcare services, disclosing the resolve of his administration to sustaining collaboration with the organisation to improve healthcare delivery.
“This is an important assignment entailing Specialised Doctors coming to Kebbi for Medical Outreach, it’s a rare opportunity for the state and its people to benefit from this gesture of service to humanity, promising to provide the enabling environment for the sustenance of such outreach.
“We are appreciative and thankful to all the Medical Doctors and other Paramedics for enhancing the provision of quality healthcare services to Kebbi inhabitants”, the Governor said.
