The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Engineer Umar Mustafa has identified factors behind underdevelopment of the state even as far back as former Gongola state to ethnic, religion, sectionalism and lack of unity by players of government.
Engineer Mustafa told members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents Chapel in an interview in Yola that despite the human resources that abound, the state still remained stagnant without consummate development to it status.
The aspirant who also known as “Otumba of Ekiti” therefore noted with regret that “since the creation of Gongola State in 1976, key players have been thinking and acting indifferently even under the military regimes due to certain factors which includes ethnic, religion or sectional device has played key roles in the under development of the state by key players in government.”
According to him, “these problems and among others that has compelled me to gun for the Chief Executive position of the State, so that I can augments at my finger tips to develop the state.”
The aspirant however observed that infrastructural and physical development can only be achieved in Adamawa if key players put behind them their different inclinations in a desperate move to achieve the best results for the citizens of the state.
He explained that if given the mandate to govern the state “I have investors that can do the magic for the state without relying on the Federal Government monthly subvention.”
Answering a question, the hopeful Governor added that “if I eventually become the Governor of Adamawa State, I will pull down the flyovers constructed by incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.”
Engineer Mustafa said “there was no sense in spending about N20 billion for flyovers that are a wastage when there are important things that are needed to be done that should uplift the living standards of the common people whose businesses are collapsing.”
He accordingly said it was of no use pulling down the Police roundabout one of the best in the whole of West Africa for a flyover that is not useful at least for now.
