A former Governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr. Victor Ikechukwu Anigbata, has said that the current Governor of the State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has no rival in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Apex News Exclusive, Chief Anigbata who was the governorship candidate of National Democratic Party (NDP) some year back said: “Nobody is contesting with Soludo. The election is one way. I can assure you Soludo will win 60 percent under any situation”.
He said whatever the All Progressives Congress (APC) is plotting, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), would win the election.
He contended that the people especially, the political class would consider throwing their support to somebody who has one tenure to go than the other person who would be starting his eight -year tenure.
Chief Anigbata said that in addition Prof Soludo is performing, saying that some people who have indicated their interest were just trying to get money from people as flag-bearers of their parties because their friends and political associates would drop money for them for their campaigns.
He however, said the opposition from the parties like APC and Labour Party are good to make Soludo sit up and work for the people.
Dr. Anigbata commended Soludo for tackling insecurity in the state especially the arrest of some native doctors who have gone out of their way to abuse the once cherished profession our society.
He said insecurity has not finally been routed out but it has reduced to certain level, stressing that there are some elements of insecurity in the villages, communities even urban and semi -urban areas where bad boys and drug addicts have taken over the streets.
“There is drug abuse everywhere. Young people taking mkpurumiri and all sorts of drugs. Bad boys have taken over the streets in urban areas. So many young people going mental in the villages because of drug abuse. The Government should consider looking into it.It has destroyed our youth and youth are our future. If the youth are destroyed the future is finished,” Dr. Anigbata said.
He took swipe on our past and present leaders who do not learn anything from the mistakes of their predecessors.
Anigbata said those who came after former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida who recently in his book launch confessed that late Chief MKO Abiola actually won the June 12, 1993 Presidential election which he annulled failed woefully to learn from his past mistakes.
“Whenever they are there they think the world would end with them but it will never end. They will live to see what they have done. They will say instead of bringing happiness to their people, they would bring sorrow to them. Why not do what is right,” he said.
Further expressing disgust over leaders’ attitude, Anigbata declared: “Now Tinubu is there to do what is needful. Let him ask himself, is he doing that. Will he come tomorrow and tell Nigerians what he did was wrong . What Obasanjo would have said, Buhari would have said. Until they confess their regrets Nigeria would never be good”.
