Bauchi Roads Transport Workers, Special Marshall collaborate to ensure safer roads

Bauchi State chapter of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW) has assured of its readiness to collaborate with the Special Marshall of the State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in order to have a safer road.
The assurance was given by the State Chairman of NURTW, Comrade Abubakar Ismail when he attended the monthly meeting of the Special Marshall held at the Base on Saturday.
He lamented that the crashes along the roads in the state is becoming alarming a situation he said must be checked immediately with joint efforts by all concerned in safety on the road.
The NURTW Chairman also said that the issue of safety on the roads is a collective responsibility stressing that more education, enlightenment and sensitization must be embarked upon to achieve a more safer road.
On the issues of overloading, over-speeding, use of expired or worn out tyres, Abubakar Ismail assured that he and his EXCO members will take it upon themselves to ensure that such were corrected.
He also assured that his members will continue to be law abiding and adhere strictly to all traffic regulations in order to minimize to the barest minimum fatal crashes in all the roads in the state.
The NURTW Chairman then accepted the invitation to join the Special Marshall in order to ensure that commercial drivers do the needful while driving.
Earlier, State Coordinator of the Special Marshall, Dr Kunle Gbadamosi stressed the importance of synergy in the fight against driving contrary to traffic rules and regulations especially by commercial drivers.
He said that most of the commercial drivers violate traffic rules such as overloading, over-speeding, dangerous overtaken and driving under influence of banned drugs.
Kunle Gbadamosi opined that with the NURTW Chairman as a member of the Special Marshall, his members will know that safer roads in the state is a task that must be achieved by all.
The Special Marshall Coordinator then assured that his members will continue to make sacrifice to ensure that Bauchi roads are safe and free of crashes stressing however that it can only be achieved through synergy and partnership.
