Constitution review: Bauchi legislature constitutes 8 man committee to study national assembly report

Bauchi State House of Assembly has constituted  a Committee that will scrutinize the proposals in the Bill on the amendment to the 1999 Constitution and advise the House on the what to do.
The construction of the Committee was announced by the Speaker of the Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman during plenary held on Tuesday. 
The Speaker had earlier announced that the House received a letter from the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos conveying the transmission of Constitution 5th Alteration Bill 2022. 
According to the Speaker, the letter reads; “the Senate and House of of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria concluded work on the 5th alteration bill 2022. It’s itemized from alteration one up to 66” . 
The letter added that Bill was adopted by the National Assembly on 1st March 2022 and 8th March 2022 hence the conveyance of the Bill to the State House of Assembly and wished that the Speaker will convey same to the Members for approval by resolution in line section 9 subsection 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
In his response to the letter, the Speaker said that the State lawmakers are party to the alteration of the constitution. 
“The National Assembly have done their part and as provided by the section 9 subsection 22 of the constitution, they have transmitted their resolution to the 36 State Houses of Assembly for their constitutional duty.” He said.
Members of the Constitution Review Committee as announced by the Speaker are: Danlami Ahmed Kawule, Deputy Speaker who is the Committee Chairman and Umar Yusuf Gital, Clerk to serve as Secretary. 
Other members of the Committee are Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu, Majority Leader, Member; Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo, Minority Leader; Kawuwa Shehu Damina; Saleh Muhammad and Bala Abdu Rishi. 
Also during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, he announced that Bala Rabilu representing Itas/Gadau Constituency, requested the House to allow the Bill for Bauchi State Local Government Councils Consolidated Budget 2022 to undergo First Reading and was seconded by Hon. Dan’umma Bello representing Giade Constituency.
Upon approval by the House, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Umar Yusuf Gital Esq to carryout the first reading.
Bala Rabilu also requested that the same Bill should be allowed to undergo second reading and was seconded by Hon. Babayo Muhammad representing Hardawa Constituency.
After the Speaker put the motion to voice vote and Members voted in favour, he directed the Clerk of the House to carryout the second reading.
The  House thereafter referred the Bill to the joint Committees of Budget and Appropriation and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and was given one month to complete its assignment and report back to the House.
