Kebbi sets 27th July for mass wedding

The pet project of the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Nafisa Nasir Idris, NANAS Foundation, has revealed that the 27th of July would be the date for thr mass wedding of 300 couples, being the third of its kind.

Addressing Journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Chairman of the main organising committee, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the would-be brides were chosen from the orphans, widows and divorcees Circe across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

He however explained that all the impending couples had been subjected to general medical checks up and only those found with no medical issue were allowed into the mass wedding.

Argungu noted that being a multi religious society,government had welcomed adherents of both Islam and Christianity who participated in the wedding after meeting the prescribed conditions including DNA test.

He further stated that government had already settled the dowry of two hundred and fifty thousand naira for each couple while a complete set of room furniture, utensils and foodstuffs would be provided for the brides.

The Chairman noted that the choice to buy the furniture from the locales not only had government boosted their businesses but also encouraged the the idea of patronising locally made goods, commending Governor Idris and NANAS Foundation for the kind gesture
