NHRC chairperson commends Governor Idris over infrastructure development in Kebbi

The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, and former Commissioner at the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Hajiya Salamatu Suleiman Hussaini, has expressed immense pride and satisfaction over the commendation of the high-quality infrastructure projects being executed by the Kebbi State Government under the leadership of Comrade Governor Nasir Idris.
Hajiya Salamatu made this known when she received the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team on a courtesy visit at her residence in Abuja.
She recounted her recent visit to Kebbi State alongside the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, for the commissioning of the NHRC State Office.
“I was privileged to go to Kebbi with the Minister of Justice to commission our Commission’s office. Together, we inspected the ultra-modern State Secretariat, and the commendation by the delegation made me proud,” she said.
The NHRC Chairperson further noted that the delegation also toured the state capital.
“We also went round and saw the streets and the general ambience of the state capital, which impressed us. We came back feeling proud,” she added.


Hajiya Salamatu expressed conviction that Governor Idris is recording significant progress, particularly in the education sector. She revealed that her non-governmental organisation, the Alkali Hussaini Foundation, is in partnership with the Kebbi State Government on capacity building for teachers.


She also commended the state government’s investment in agriculture, noting that the provision of free farming inputs has improved the socio-economic well-being of the people.
The NHRC Chairperson further disclosed that discussions are ongoing with the state governor on the establishment of a training institute for manpower development in economic-related fields. The institute will be facilitated through the New Nigerian Development Company, where she serves as a board member.

In conclusion, Hajiya Salamatu congratulated Comrade Governor Nasir Idris for the giant strides achieved in Kebbi State within the last three years.
