The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, has said pay packages of political office holders in in state have gone up drastically from a paltry monthly N21 million to N122 million.
He made the statement on Friday in Lafia, the state capital, at the Local Government Joint Accounts Committee (JAC) meeting.
According to him, the rise was due to the recent swearing in of elected newly elected local government chairmen and councilors.
The state conducted local government elections on May 26 where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the seats in thirteen local government councils.
The commissioner explained that before now, packages of appointed local government officials were done based laws guarding the third tier of government.
