Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has extolled the leadership qualities of a frontrunner contesting for the ticket of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District, saying Barrister Labaran Magaji’s experience and education has adequately prepared him for leadership.

Engineer Sule made this known when he hosted the Barrister Labaran Magaji for Senate 2023 campaign team, at the Government House, on Thursday.

According to the Governor, with his experience and education, there is nothing wrong if Barrister Labaran Magaji came out to vie for the senate seat.

“I want to sincerely commend you for what you are doing. Without any ambiguity, your level of experience and education have prepared you for positions even higher than this.

“There is nothing wrong with anything for you to come forward and say you want to go for this position,” Engineer Sule said.

He particularly commended Barrister Magaji, who doubles as the Matawallen Toto, for making it known that he only chosed to throw his hat into the political ring after a vacancy was created following the elevation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu to the position of the national chairman of the APC.

“Everyone knows that Abdullahi Adamu is actually our political father in this state. So when you mentioned that you have made up your mind not to contest against him, I think that is a very strong political statement. And I commend you. And I am sure he will remember that,” he stated.

The Governor equally appreciated the level of maturity being demonstrated by aspirants seeking for the Nasarawa West senatorial ticket, stressing that such attitude defines the type of politics that is expected in the state.

“It’s a politics of competence, politics of people who don’t just take politics as the only thing they do in life. It’s politics of respect for one another,” he said.

He noted that the contest for the senatorial seat of the zone will be tough, considering that all three aspirants namely Barrister Labaran Magaji, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi and Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, all have the capacity to deliver.

“I am beginning to think that it’s going to be a very tough contest. The good thing that will happen to us will be similar to the national chairmanship. We said at the end of the day, whoever takes it will be the best for the state,” the Governor said.

He emphasized for anyone aspiring for the position needs to be highly connected, nationally and internationally, as that is the only opportunity to bring all the good things to Nasarawa State.

The Governor used the opportunity to appeal to supporters of all the aspirants to emulate their principals and not to overheat the polity.

Earlier in a remark, Barrister Labaran Magaji said he was at the Government House alongside his campaign team, declare his intention to contest for the Nasarawa West senatorial ticket, as well as to seek the blessings of the Governor.

Barrister Magaji said he was motivated to join the race because of the vacancy created following the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the APC.

He said even though God has prepared him long before for the responsibility he is seeking presently, he won’t have joined the race to contest against Senator Adamu.

The Matawallen Toto said he was ready work with the Governor, his administration and Nigeria as a whole, with a view to safeguarding the country, by deploying his prosecutorial skills into lawmaking.

He explained that he was at the Government House, to inform Engineer Sule of his decision to contest and seek for nomination of the ruling party, to withstand whosoever the opposition party is going to present in Nasarawa West.

“Having mentioned this, I am seeking formally for your blessing. I can never start this project, without having your blessing because I have so much believe in you,” he stated.

Barrister Magaji said he was further motivated to join the race because with the Keffi/Karu/Kokona federal constituency spending 12 years representing the zone at the senate, come 2023, it will be the turn of Nasarawa/Toto to pick the senate ticket.

“If fairness will be the watch word, I strongly believe and everybody here sitted, agree that it’s the turn of Nasarawa/Toto to produce the senate seat,” he said.

The Nasarawa West senatorial aspirant used the opportunity of the visit to congratulate Engineer Sule for not only successfully hosting both President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who visited the state on official engagements, but also for bringing the seat of the national chairman of the APC to the state.

In an opening remarks, Director General of the Barrister Labaran Magaji for Senate Campaign Organisation, Hon. Yusuf Loko, introduced the aspirant as a man that has the capacity and wherewithal to pick the party’s ticket for the Nasarawa West Senatorial District.

Hon. Loko said the campaign organisation is in total support for the Governor A. A Sule continuity come 2023.
